Black Magick

Black Magick is often confused for Baneful Magick, and the two are not mutually exclusive… a lot of baneful magick is black magick, but a majority of black magick is not baneful! Let’s dispel some myths about what Black Magick is and isn’t.

And here is a checklist of what we discuss in this video:

  • Baneful Magick is done to hurt or harm others, such as curses or hexes

  • Black Magick is done to release or push something away

  • Examples of Black Magick include:

    • Shadow work to integrate and depolarize

    • Cord cutting spells to untether yourself from the past energetic influences from another person, place or thing

    • Road opening spells that release blockages that are holding you back from achieving something

    • Release spell of any sort to cast out illness or poverty

  • These types of magickal workings are associated with the waning moon, as it resonates energy of release

  • Primary planetary correspondences of Black Magick are Mars and Saturn

  • As empowered witches, we understand the necessity of depolarizing our craft in order to be centered and release moral stigma that black or white are inherently bad or good

  • We explored the symbolism of The High Priestess in the Rider-Waite Smith tarot for some deeper clues about the ability to access both forms of Magick:

    • The High Priestess is centered between the two pillars of polarity that constitute the dualistic nature of reality (black + white, feminine + masculine, negative + positive, subconscious + conscious)

    • The black pillar is called Boaz, Pillar of Severity, representing form, receptivity and containment, the subconscious feminine component of worldly manifestation

  • Exploring the Eastern symbolism of the yin and yang, we find that the black portion also represents the darkness (feminine consciousness) as inseparable from the light (masculine consciousness)

  • The feminine aspect also addresses the “As Within” portion of the axiom “As Is Within, So Is Without”, indicating that the subconscious internal state is preceded by the external, and the external is dictated by the internal state

We find it of utmost importance to embrace and destigmatize Black Magick, so that we may be more effective in our White Magick as well, bringing us into greater harmony of living fully in our power as witches!
